Concert for Burma in Taipei
The Burma (Myanmar) Cyclone Relief Concert was held at 4 4 South Village (四四南村) in Taipei yesterday. A great line up of bands performed to raise awareness and funds for the victims of Cyclone Nargis in Burma.
The first band I saw was Underflow (暗流樂團). Their singer is from Shan State. His cousin also sang a song.
Soler, a duo from Macau made up of twin brothers Dino and Julio Acconci, had plenty of fans in the crowd. They also have a Burma connection as their mother is Karen.
Next up was Pan Africana playing the sounds of Africa and the Caribbean.
David Chen and the Muddy Basin Ramblers played their jug band music.
Last band to play was the Taimaica Sound System with their big on stage ensemble and reggae sounds. Overall the concert was a great event and hopefully raised some funds for the cyclone victims.
Some of these bands will also be performing at the Peace Festival in Longtan, Taoyuan County on 13-15 June. There is a Free Aung San Suu Kyi Concert at The Wall in Taipei on 19 June.

Good report and photos David. I missed this concert due to a knee injury – I’m glad I can still see part of it through your blog.
