Photos from the weekend
I didn't visit any new places on the weekend, but here are some photos I took on my travels around Taipei City and County.

At the end of Xianmin Boulevard (縣民大道) in Banqiao there is this giant bike. There is a bike path that runs along the river here.
The bike path mentioned above runs alongside this canal. While the scene might look attractive the water in this canal looks and smells like shit — probably because it contains quite a lot of it.
Not far away I discovered this interesting looking Catholic Church. It incorporates architectural features of a Chinese temple rather than being built in the style of a European church. I also saw another similar style Catholic church in Tainan.
I paid another visit to the Cihui Temple (慈惠寺) where I captured this shot of a stone lion on an incense burner.
On Saturday afternoon I took the MRT out to Beitou.
This is the new library (previously blogged about here). They have used a lot of wood in the construction — a refreshing change to the concrete and tiles that characterise most buildings in Taiwan.

On Sunday I saw the changing of the guards ceremony at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall (國父紀念館). I took a series of photos. Not all of them worked out as I was shooting hand held in low light.
