Sign of the times
I spotted this sign at the entrance to the Banqiao MRT Station this morning. I am not sure how long it has been there, but I suspect it appeared there in the last few days. I also noticed the same sign at an entrance to the Jiangzicui MRT Station.
Currently the protest against President Chen led by Shih Ming-teh is based at Taipei Station. The media has reported a number of minor scuffles breaking out between the protestors and those with differing political opinions.
The Taipei Times today reported that Minister of the Interior, Lee Yi-yang had criticised Taipei Mayor (and KMT chairman) for allowing the protest to be held at Taipei Station.
I hope people outside Taiwan don't get the wrong impression from reading this and other media reports about the protests. Taiwan is a country where people can freely gather and express their opinions. For the most part they do this peacefully. The media likes to highlight any incident of violence and give the impression that Taiwan is in chaos. This is far from the truth. With the exception of the immediate area around the protests life goes on as normal.

Any chance of getting hold of the original for signese.com? Would be a nice one to have, and we’re way too Beijing-centric . . .

roddy, it’s in the mail. It’s a long time since I have sent you anything for signese.com. I might browse through a few of my photos and find some more Taipei signese for you.

I think it’s an old sign, I saw it last december in some stations, specially in Main Station near the Shinkong Mitsukoshi’s exit
