Recommended website #1: Central Weather Bureau

Central Weather Bureau Taiwan

This is the Taiwan website that I visit more than any other. There are versions in both Chinese and English.

Although the site uses frames its design is simple and easy to navigate. The entry page shows a map of Taiwan with forecast temperatures and conditions for tonight, tomorrow and tomorrow night (this may vary depending on the time of the day).

The left hand menu includes a number of options including typhoon news, radar and a satellite photo. There is also earthquake information and historical climate data. There is a link to a seven day forecast in the top right which opens in a new window. This gives a seven day forecast for the different regions of Taiwan. There is also a link to a seven day tourism forecast which displays the forecast for popular tourist areas like Alishan, Sun Moon Lake and Kending.

Please note: The recommended website will become a semi-regular feature on this blog. I will recommend some of the most interesting and useful Taiwan related websites. If you would like to suggest a website, just leave a link in the comments.

Yup, that a #1 recommended site, specially when there’s a typhoon out there.
