Taipei by night

After leaving Longshan Temple just as the sun was setting I walked across Taipei passing by a number of famous landmarks.

The first stop was Ximending, a bustling entertainment and shopping district. All the bright lights and huge screens give the place a kind of futuristic, sci-fi feel at night. This is enhanced by the sign reading "Galaxy" in the middle of the photo above.

I wandered past the Presidential Building which is well lit up at night. I didn't knock on the door to see if A-bian was home.

I don't think much of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. I just wish they would change the name and rip up the vast expanse of concrete and plant some trees!

Next stop was the Shida nightmarket for some refreshments.

I continued wandering along Roosevelt Road. I took the photo above from one of the pedestrian bridges. I always think the effect of the light trails looks really cool. My journey came to end when I got to the Gongguan MRT Station and headed home.

Hello Mr. Reid

I just find you blog and I also started to read you guide to Taiwan, I’ve found it pretty interesting.

I really liked the way you put some things and I also would like to discuss some of them, for example I think is more easy for a person that has studied Traditional Characters to recognize Simplified ones

Greeting
Charlie

Charlie,

I just made a post about simplified characters. You are welcome to post some comments in that thread.
