Spinning around above Taipei

The Miramar ferris wheel

On Sunday afternoon I went out to Neihu to take a ride on the Miramar Ferris Wheel (美麗華摩天輪). I saw it when I was in Taipei last year, but the weather was not suitable for viewing the scenery (i.e. several days of continuous rain!!). Although the weather wasn't perfect on Sunday it was good enough to snap a few photos. Taipei 101 was just a faint blur in the smog, so I wasn't able to get a photo of the world's tallest building from one of the world's tallest ferris wheels.

Tickets for the ferris wheel aren't cheap. It's NT$200 on weekends and NT$150 during the week. The engineering involved in constructing the ferris wheel seems mind boggling. All the cabins are individually air-conditioned.

The cabins are fully enclosed and air-conditioned

The area in Neihu where the ferris wheel stands has developed rapidly over the last few years. It was interesting to see this vegetable garden occupying what might be some of Taipei's most expensive real estate.

It was also good to see the Neihu MRT line under construction, although I am sure it will still be a few more years before the line opens.

Haha I have better pictures that I took because I used to live there and half my family is there and I went there on a clear sunny day. So I visited there recently. If you don’t believe me email me. And I have great pictures from up top Taiipei 101, National Museum, Grand Hotel, THe Zoo, and much more.
